Houston sergeant fundraising for Alabama storm victims

Strong storms and tornadoes caused widespread damage in Alabama.

A Houston police sergeant is doing his part to help the families of a tiny Alabama town devastated by last week's tornados.

The community of Northport was hit incredibly hard by the twisters.

Police Sgt. Bobby Roberts is raising money to help the families of local law enforcement as well as residents who lost everything in the tornados. He plans to personally hand deliver all monetary donations next week.

Roberts has been overwhelmed at the outpouring of support that's been coming in from around the country.

Several smaller communities near Northport have been wiped off the map. They are need of clothes, school supplies, shoes and toiletries. A lot of what's collected will also be distributed to surrounding communities.
