Strip center fire sends three firefighters to hospital

Three Houston firefighters were transported to area hospitals during a 3-alarm fire that ripped through a shopping center this morning in southwest Houston. According to the Houston Fire Department, the fire started around 7:45am on S. Gessner Dr. at S. Braeswood Blvd.

The shopping center suffered heavy damage, but it was unknown how many businesses were affected by the blaze.

One firefighter was transported and is being treated for exhaustion. Two other firefighters were transported from the scene with minor injuries.

HFD says the expect all three of the injured firefighters to be treated and released.

Arson is investigating the cause of the fire.
