Three suspects flee after shooting

Police are investigating an attempted robbery and shooting that occurred in this parking lot

A robbery attempt ended with gunfire overnight in north Houston. It happened around 12:45am Sunday at an apartment complex in the 16000 block of Imperial Valley Dr. at Esplanade Blvd.

Around 12:45am HPD responded to a Shooting call and found a Hispanic male shot twice. He was transported to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition.

According to Houston police, the victim was visiting and drinking beer in the parking lot with several friends when three black men in ski masks came up to them with guns drawn and held them up, demanding cash and whatever they had.

The victim lunged at one of the suspects and the other suspect open fired on him, shooting five rounds, police said.

Investigators said the victim was shot twice and the three suspects fled the scene.

The victim was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition.
