Officials said the outages were scattered, but primarily concentrated in Crosby and east Galveston. CenterPoint estimates put outages at 4,000 in east Galveston and 2,000 in Crosby.
According to CenterPoint, the outages were caused by damage created by sparks on some electrical poles and towers. The sparks were created in part by moisture in the air.
Crews were dispatched to both areas to repair damage. Some poles were damaged enough that they have to be replaced, officials said.
