HPD: Deadly shooting may have been an accident

HOUSTON Houston police were called to a shooting on Collingsworth at Kashmere around 2:45am Saturday. They arrived and found a woman dead in a Chevrolet Trailblazer. She had been shot one time.

According to police, there was a man in the back seat and the female was driving. As they were pulling out of the driveway of the home, the man in the back seat attempted to pull a weapon from his right front shorts pocket to see if it was loaded. As the male checked the weapon, he said he placed his finger on the trigger and the weapon fired.

Investigators said someone initially reported the woman had shot herself, and the gun was found thrown outside in the backyard.
