'American Idol' singers take on 21st century songs

LOS ANGELES, CA The eccentric 20-year-old film camp counselor of Idyllwild, Calif., planted a peck on judge Jennifer Lopez after delivering a rockin' rendition of Maroon 5's "Harder to Breathe."

Lopez proclaimed that she loved Abrams' performance -- and his "soft lips" weren't bad either. The Fox talent competition on Wednesday focused on 21st century songs.

High school student Scotty McCreery kicked off the show with an eyebrow-raising take on LeAnn Rimes' version of "Swingin'."

Tyler said he wished the deep-voiced 17-year-old "boot-scooted" more during his performance, while Randy Jackson dubbed the song choice as safe.

One of the seven finalists gets booted Thursday.
