Collision slams van into electrical pole

HOUSTON According to police, the van was northbound on Scott and a Lincoln Town Car was eastbound on Yellowstone when one of them ran a red light through the intersection.

Houston police are trying to determine who ran the red light, but they said the Town Car clipped the back end of the van, causing the van to go sideways.

The van slammed into a wooden electrical poll on the passenger side, splitting the pole in two. The top part was just hanging by the wires.

The driver of the minivan hurt his leg, but officials said he refused to be transported.

The driver of the Town Car was not injured.

CenterPoint replaced the pole Sunday morning.
