The final defendant has been convicted over the 2009 abduction and rape of a Southern Methodist University foreign exchange student. The penalty phase was scheduled Wednesday in Dallas for 29-year-old Alfonso Armendariz Zuniga. He was convicted Tuesday of sexual assault and faces up to life in prison.

Investigators say the woman was snatched from a street in December of 2009 after leaving a party. Police say the woman was taken to a deserted lot, raped and robbed, then dumped in South Dallas.

One man pleaded guilty last year and testified against the second attacker, who was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. Prosecutors relied on DNA evidence and testimony from the 21-year-old victim.
