HOUSTON --The Harris County Sheriff's Office and Crime Stoppers of Houston today kicked off Crime Stoppers' Fifth Annual Safe Child Initiative. As part of Child Abuse Prevention Month, Harris Co. Sheriff Adrian Garcia asked people to report crime against children. The sheriff said his office sees 11,000 child cases a year involving children and they sometimes involve victims who cannot provide information. "The types of crimes that occur against children, they're vast, they're complicated and sometimes they are horrible. So we need the help of the public to help provide us with information, leads, testimony, if you will, to help us put the people responsible for these crimes where they belong and that's behind bars," said Sheriff Garcia. You can report crimes against children at 713-222-TIPS or visit www.crime-stoppers.org.
