Redford's Sundance Cinema coming to downtown Houston

HOUSTON According to a release sent out by the city today, Sundance Cinema will open on November 1 and will offer drinking and dining choices and reserved seating. There will also be free parking for patrons.

"Houston is very lucky to be chosen by one of the most sought-after theater operators in the country," said Mayor Annise Parker in the release.

"I am so happy to see our newest Sundance Cinemas facility coming to Houston, added Redford. "It's a great city for our next step forward."

Sundance Cinemas Houston will feature specialized film programming from film festivals and general release. It will occupy the space abandoned by Angelika Theater last fall. The city estimates that improvements to the 36,000 square-foot space will cost $2.250 million.
