A wrecker driver and his passenger are wanted after fleeing the scene of a double shooting Sunday in southwest Houston. According to investigators, the wrecker driver and a passenger in the wrecker were trying to tow a sports utility vehicle from the Country Club Village Apartments on S. Gessner Dr. near Bellaire Blvd. around 6am Sunday.

Then, police said the owner of the SUV came outside with a friend and saw what was happening.

The four got into an altercation and, as the wrecker left, his passenger shot at the two men who came outside.

One man was struck in the head and the other in the abdomen, police said.

Both victims were transported to Ben Taub General Hospital. The man who was shot in the head was taken into surgery in critical condition. They remained hospitalized Sunday evening.

The wrecker and his passenger fled the scene and have not been apprehended.
