A man is hospitalized after he was struck by a METRO train near Reliant Park. The accident happened on Fannin near the South Loop at about noon. According to METRO spokesperson Jerome Gray, the crossing arm was down, alerting people that a train was approaching. The pedestrian walked across the southbound lane, but was struck by the train going northbound.
The man was thrown about 50 feet. He was taken to a hospital unconscious, but breathing. His condition is not known.
Gray said equipment on the front of the train prevents pedestrians from being dragged beneath the trains.
