Jet goes off runway at Hobby Airport

HOUSTON The private jet apparently overshot the runway and crashed through a barricade. The jet stopped a few yards in front of a deep drainage ditch, avoiding what could have been a major problem. It appeared to be about 60-65 yards away from the street.

The flight originated in Chiapas, Mexico. It was traveling to Galveston when it was diverted to Hobby. A patient was being airlifted to Shriner's Hospital. That patient has since been taken by ambulance to the hospital.

None of the six people onboard was hurt, but some lights and an antenna on the runway were damaged.

The FAA is investigating.

The runway 12-R reopened to air traffic before 11am.
