HOUSTON --A man who police say lunged at an officer and tried to take his gun made his first appearance in front of a judge today. Clarence Harvey is facing assault charges. Investigators say the officer saw Harvey jaywalking near the North Loop and Airline on Wednesday morning. The officer stopped to question him and that's when police say the officer was attacked. A woman passing by saw what was happening and jumped on Harvey's back. He was arrested. Police say they are thankful for that good Samaritan. The officer suffered an injury to his hand. Harvey faces felony charges of aggravated assault of a police officer and disarming a peace officer.
