Court appearance for cable worker accused of rape

HOUSTON

Jose Torres appeared in probable cause court Wednesday morning. Earlier this week, police issued a warrant for his arrest, accusing him of raping a 14-year-old girl last July in her southeast Houston home. Police tell us they arrested Torres at his home Tuesday evening.

Police say the attack happened just two days after Torres installed cable at the home. Investigators say the back door was pried open and that the teen awoke to find a man standing over her. According to court documents he allegedly "got on top of her and held a knife and screwdriver to her neck."

Torres, 32, is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child. He is due back in court tomorrow.
