Community offers input on north side rail expansion

HOUSTON Neighbors attended a rail summit at Ketelsen Elementary Saturday. METRO representatives showed maps of the rail routes and explained how the rail would affect traffic and transportation in the area.

"The neighborhood is very excited about the rail coming in," said Asst Director Lizbeth Mejia of Avenue CDC. "They just want to be partners in terms of making sure it's something that fits in the neighborhood and is a good opportunity that's going to give them access to better jobs, better education and other resources."

METRO's new north line will start at the University of Houston downtown and extend to the Northline Transit Center just past the Loop.

The line is already under construction.
