High school fight leads to injured deputy and student arrests

HOUSTON The incident happened around 9:20am at Cypress Creek High School. The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office said they were called out to a disturbance at Cy Creek where two students were involved in a fight that got out of hand. Precinct 4 Chief Mark Herman characterized the fight as a 'mob' and said the deputy got between the two students to break up the fight when a third student jumped on the deputy's back.

The deputy received minor injuries, but we're told he is back on duty. None of the students were hospitalized.

Chief Herman said two students were arrested. Tevin Young, 17, has been charged with resisting arrest and assault. Travis Smith, 19, has been charged with interfering with the duties of a police officer.

A third student ran away from the scene, but was pulled out of a vehicle in the school's parking lot.
