A former police officer is facing charges, accused of theft. On Saturday, former Brookshire Police Officer Charles Jerome Cole was arrested and charged with official oppression and theft. The charges were based on alleged conduct while on duty as a Brookshire officer approximately three months ago.

Waller County District Attorney Elton Mathis says there had been theft-related complaints about Officer Cole. An FBI confidential informant was reportedly pulled over by Officer Cole, who then allegedly stole about $900 from the car.

Cole posted bond, which had been set at $5,000 on each charge, and was released Saturday. Cole had been released from employment with the City of Brookshire prior to these cases going before the grand jury.
