Houston City Council to take up Dynamo rebate deal

HOUSTON The city council is expected to vote Wednesday on a rebate package meant to return $3 million in projected sales tax to the MLS team.

City council members could endorse a final agreement with Harris County over creation of an economic development tax zone for the area.

The Harris County Houston Sports Authority in December approved an agreement to build the proposed stadium. The venue, scheduled to open in the spring of 2012, would also be the home field for Texas Southern University football games.

The Dynamo currently play at Robertson Stadium at the University of Houston.
