Tattooed teen charged in friend's shooting death

HOUSTON Ronald Beltran is charged with manslaughter. The incident happened on January 20 at a residence in the 500 block of Brushy Glen. According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, Beltran liked to scare people by putting a round in the chamber and firing the gun. The victim, a friend of Beltran's, got upset and told Beltran not to do that. Beltran responded by putting a round in the chamber and fired the weapon, which struck his friend.

Beltran told authorities that he was keeping track of which chamber the bullet was in, and he thought there was no bullet in the chamber when he fired the weapon at the friend.

The victim has been identified as Manuel Villegas.

Beltran, 18, is being held on $30,000 bond.
