Missing statue returned to historic Galveston mansion
GALVESTON, TX
The winged lion statue dissapeared from the historic Bishop's Palace in May of 2008. It was first placed in front of the home back in the 1890s. Officials with the Galveston Historical Foundation told Eyewitness News someone recently purchased the statue in Austin, then realized it may have been stolen.
It has since been returned to the historical foundation and will be back in front of Bishop's Palace soon.
It's still unknown who took the statue in the first place.
