Thief chokes employee before fleeing store

Detectives are trying to identify a man who allegedly choked a department store employee who caught him stealing at a department store on December 30.

Detectives need help identifying a man who choked a department store employee after she confronted him about stealing clothing from the store.

The attack occurred on December 30 at a department store in the 20600 block of the North Freeway, according to a Crime Stoppers statement.

The employee saw the man put on a pair of tennis shoes and place his own shoes back in the box. He then walked around the store and stole a T-shirt.

As the suspect tried to walk out of the store, the employee approached the man and asked him to return inside the store, but the suspect hit the woman in the chest and grabbed her neck. He choked the woman and then fled on foot.

The suspect is described as a white man with brown hair and is between the ages of 25 and 30. He is about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs around 150 pounds.
