Pedestrian struck by car, pushed into METRO rail train

HOUSTON The incident happened around 4:40am on Fannin at Holly Hall. A spokesperson for METRO says a northbound railcar was approaching the stop at Reliant Stadium when a pedestrian was struck by an unknown vehicle. The impact sent the pedestrian toward the train, striking the right side of the railcar. METRO says the train did not run over the victim.

The vehicle fled and the railcar operator stopped to check on the victim and called for help. Emergency medical services arrived and transported the victim to the hospital. The agency was unsure if there were any passengers on board at the time.

The Houston Police Department and METRO police are investigating, reviewing the railcar's video to see if they can identify the vehicle.

Rail service resumed shortly after 5am.
