HOUSTON --A local couple who were told they could not serve food to the homeless in Houston says they are spending this Martin Luther King Jr. Day carrying out his legacy by serving others. We introduced you to Bobby and Amanda Herring last week. They have been feeding the homeless in Houston for about 15 months until the city stopped them because they didn't have the proper permits. On Monday night, the couple says they will either cook food in a licensed kitchen or they will buy fast food burgers. Last week, Houston City Council Member Wanda Adams said she would review the ordinances.
