The 18-wheeler and passenger car were driving side by side eastbound on the 610 Loop when apparently another flatbed truck was entering the freeway from Highway 59 and swerved. That forced the big rig driver to swerve to miss the flatbed, sending the 18-wheeeler into the lane where the passenger car was driving.
The 18-wheeler pinned the car between the wall and the side of the boxcar. The collision caused a fire. Fire crews quickly arrived on the scene and put out the flames.
Two people in the car escaped with minor injuries. The driver of the truck driver was not injured.
It took crews a couple of hours to clean up the debris from the wreck. Traffic was backed up for miles.
