Big rig driver fails to stop in lost cargo wreck

Crime Stoppers and investigators with the Houston Police Department are seeking the public's assistance in identifying a suspect who lost cargo on the I-10 East Freeway that caused serious bodily injury to a man that was traveling behind the 18-wheeler. On Thursday, December 23, at approximately 9:35pm, a man was traveling westbound on I-10 East Freeway behind an 18-wheeler. The victim and the big rig were both in the same lane when a 31 inch steel pipe came free. The pipe hit the pavement, then flew through the windshield of the victim's truck.

The driver's right arm was broken as a result of the accident. He tried to follow the 18-wheeler, but his pain became too severe and he stopped to call for help.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for any information called in to the 713-222-8477 (TIPS) hotline or submitted online at that leads to the filing of felony charges or arrest of a felony suspect in this case.
