Big rig driver fails to stop in lost cargo wreck

HOUSTON On Thursday, December 23, at approximately 9:35pm, a man was traveling westbound on I-10 East Freeway behind an 18-wheeler. The victim and the big rig were both in the same lane when a 31 inch steel pipe came free. The pipe hit the pavement, then flew through the windshield of the victim's truck.

The driver's right arm was broken as a result of the accident. He tried to follow the 18-wheeler, but his pain became too severe and he stopped to call for help.
