A man's body sat on the side of the street for hours before police were called to the scene Wednesday morning. Authorities found the man's body in a ditch near Nagle and McIlhenny, just southeast of downtown. Police were called out to the scene around 10am, but after speaking with people in the area they found out he had been laying there since at least 6am. No one realized he was dead.

Police say the victim, age unknown, suffered apparent blunt force trauma to the head.

"If anybody out there did see something they need to call us at homicide or Crime Stoppers," said Sgt. Robert Odom of HPD Homicide.

The victim's identity and cause of death are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
