Three-alarm fire erupts at Galleria-area townhomes

HOUSTON

The fire erupted around 9pm Tuesday at a three-story townhome complex on Post Oak Park near River Hollow Lane. Within 10 minutes, the fire had grown to a two-alarm blaze and firefighters went into defensive mode shortly after that. Before an hour had passed by, the fire became three alarms.

"As of last report, there were 41 companies dispatched, and that was inclusive of the chief ambulance squads and all of the attack companies," Houston Fire Department Assistant Chief Lisa Campbell said.

The fire was finally tapped out by 10:12pm. However, firefighters planned to remain at the scene until all the hot spots were put out, Campbell said.

It wasn't immediately clear how the fire started or how many units were damaged and to what extent.
