Hit-and-run suspect arrested months after accident

HOUSTON

Rogelio Daniel Hernandez, 39, was arrested in August in El Paso, where his parents live, and transferred back to the Harris County Jail, investigators said. He is scheduled to be in court on Monday on a charge of failure to stop and render aid.

Detectives say Hernandez struck Jerry Zabodyn with his car in downtown Houston after a Rockets game on March 19. The following day authorities found Hernandez's vehicle abandoned a few streets from where the accident happened.

Zabodyn, who was flung more than 50 feet by the car, miraculously survived the accident; however, he had broken nearly every bone in his body and spent some time in a coma.

Hernandez has been out on $30,000 bond.
