SPCA running out of food, needs donations

HOUSTON The Houston SPCA is holding a food drive to help the Animals on Wheels Program. The pets of 300 homebound seniors depend on the meals. The SPCA says the program is running out of food and desperate for donations.

"Those pets are a source of companionship," said Meera Nandlal with the Houston SPCA. "There are also health benefits to owning a pet, so they're not lonely. And I really want them to have their pets with them."

The SPCA's goal is to collect 3,000 pounds of food by Thursday. Donations can be dropped off at the group's office on 900 Portway in west Houston.
