Authorities need help in solving cold case murder

HOUSTON On October 23, 2000, Rony Ortez was found shot to death behind the Auto 1 Auto Sales located at 14525 State Highway 249. His black Acura had been stolen and was found days later at the Sam Houston Race Park. Ortez, 20, was last seen shopping for a car.

For many cold cases, there is very little information so investigators are relying solely on the public's tips.
