Houston police are investigating the death of a person at a pawn shop in southwest Houston.

Four men have been taken downtown for questioning. Police say those four men severely beat, punched and kicked a man who they say was breaking into a vehicle owned by the construction company that they work for.

Investigators say the men were working construction on the EZ Pawn shop at Bellaire and Cooke and caught him in the act.

Police received a call about an assault in progress at the EZ Pawn shop shortly before 2pm. By the time police arrived, two of the four men were holding the suspect face down on the ground.

An officer was directed by a witness to the suspect. Police say the officer handcuffed the suspect, turned him over and realized that he was dead.

No charges have been filed yet.
