'Tis the season for giving and Houstonians are doing just that. The Salvation Army of Houston says it has received its first gold coin. Someone dropped the coin in a red kettle at a Sam's Club on South Rice and Westpark.

The gold coin was wrapped inside of a one dollar bill with a note reading, "A child is born, Jesus." The $50 gold coin is actually valued at more than $1,100.

The Salvation Army says thanks to the anonymous donor, and they plan to put the money to good use.
