One driver critically injured in collision involving school bus

HOUSTON The accident happened shortly after 3pm Tuesday after a driver heading eastbound on Hammerly ran a red light at the intersection of the West Sam Houston Parkway feeder road. The driver's vehicle was T-boned by a Spring Branch ISD school bus passing the intersection on the southbound lanes of the feeder road. The collision then pushed the vehicle into a third vehicle.

The driver who ran the red light was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital and was in critical but stable condition at last check.

No children were on the bus, and the driver and two bus aides weren't injured.

It wasn't immediately available whether the third driver involved in the wreck was injured in the crash.

The accident caused a major traffic backup on the southbound feeder road of Beltway 8 at Hammerly.
