Woman grabs knife to stab intruder

RICHMOND, TX It was around 1am Friday that Richmond police were called to the Mustang Crossing Apartments at 2000 Lamar Drive. Investigators say the woman was lying in her bed when she heard something in the bathroom.

After listening for a while, the woman reportedly grabbed a knife from her purse and went to investigate the noise. That's when police say she noticed someone walking in her apartment.

According to officials, the woman grabbed the man from behind, spun him around and stuck a knife into his abdomen. She then took the man outside and tried to get a neighbor to call police.

The suspect, identified as James Mcandrew Fletcher, 41, of Rosenberg, left the scene and made his way to Oak Bend Emergency Room where he underwent surgery. His condition is unknown at this time.

This case is under investigation and police say no charges are pending against the woman. Fletcher is facing charges for burglary of a habitation, a second degree felony.
