The city of Galveston is ushering in the holiday season with a tree lighting tonight. Mayor Joe Jaworski and some special guests will all be at the Hotel Galvez on the Seawall for the event. The annual celebration includes the lighting of a 35 foot Christmas tree and visits from Santa Claus, the Galveston Ballet and the Houston Children's Chorus.

The event goes from 6pm to 8pm. It's free and open to the public.
