Man charged with capital murder in cousin's death

HOUSTON Police say Rodney Johnson, 31, had not been seen for several days. When his girlfriend's mother went to check on him at his apartment on April 13, 2009, she discovered him dead in his bedroom. Johnson, 31, had suffered stab wounds to the neck and chest.

Police say their investigation identified Johnson's cousin, Michael Jackson, 29, as a suspect in this case. It was learned the two men had been at a club when Johnson began flashing a large amount of money. The pair then returned to Johnson's apartment where police say Jackson killed him in his bedroom before taking the money and locking the front door behind him.

Jackson is charged with capital murder in the 178th State District Court. He is currently being held in a Texas Department of Corrections facility on an unrelated charge.
