Marine Moms, volunteers put together care packages

HOUSTON Yesterday, members of the group packed boxes with goodies collected during the Fort Bend ISD's Veterans Day drive. The items included everything from toilet paper and canned goods to letters from school children and candy.

"First and foremost, keep the guys supplied with essential items, items that they need, but also items that they want or that they don't know that they want," said Houston Marine Moms co-founder Jay Blott. "So it's very heartwarming."

The packages had to be shipped early since it will take two to four weeks to reach the troops. In addition, the Sugar Land Ice and Sports arena and the Houston Aeros made cash donations.
