Remembering Bonfire victims 11 years later

COLLEGE STATION, TX At the same time each year, Aggies remember what happened. At 2:42am, they got together to remember the moment on November 18, 1999, when a Bonfire stack under construction collapsed, killing 12 students and injuring 27 people.

The students who gathered this morning, 11 years later, are still touched by the tragedy.

"It's really heartwarming to see all of us Aggies to come out here remembering the Aggies who died at the Bonfire," said student Texas A&M student JJ Kim. "Most of us didn't even know who they were, but we all came out here tonight when no one's really awake and, I mean, it's really heartwarming to see all of come out here as a family."

A Bonfire remembrance exhibit is on display on campus at Rudder Exhibit Hall through November 24.
