Duplex fire in SW Houston being called suspicious

Houston firefighters think a suspicious fire on the southwest side may have been linked to gang-related activities. When firefighters got to the scene off Dairybrook at Brookwulf, the flames were shooting through the roof of a duplex. The duplex where the fire started was vacant. Firefighters say the duplex had a strong firewall separating it from the duplex next door and that kept the flames from destroying the second unit. Arson investigators are trying to determine what sparked the flames.

"We have some information that this may be a gang-related activity," said Richard Mann with the Houston Fire Department. "So we've got arson investigators on location and they're checking that out."

People were evacuated from the second unit, but no one was hurt.
