A southwest Houston elementary school was put under lockdown for a short time this morning following reports of gunfire nearby. According to HISD, just before 9am, students at Sugar Grove Academy on Bonhomme north of Bissonnet reported hearing gunfire. School officials brought the students inside and called Houston police.

The school was under lockdown for less than a half-hour while police investigated.

Police believe the gunfire came from a nearby apartment complex, but they did not find anyone hurt.
