Bizarre police chase ends at west Houston hotel

HOUSTON It all started on Kingsley and Shadow Creek Parkway in Pearland and ended at the hotel off the Katy Freeway at North Wilcrest, several miles away.

Pearland police say the pursuit started just before 2am in the Shadow Creek Ranch subdivision when the officer spotted a blue Toyota sitting at stop sign for a long period of time. The officer became suspicious and pulled the suspect over. The officer was running the suspect's license plates and identified the suspect as Lorenza Parnell Brown. The officer was in the process of learning of Brown's felony warrant when he then took off.

Brown led police on a chase from Highway 288 to Highway 59 and then onto the Katy Freeway. Brown then drove around the back of an Extended Stay hotel, used his key card to get in and then ran upstairs. Once in his room upstairs, Brown called police, who had the building surrounded and told them he wanted to surrender.

Authorities believe Brown was casing out cars. He will be questioned about a rash of car break-ins in a neighborhood off Shadow Creek Parkway.

Police say Brown was found to have three warrants for probation violations and was also charged with evading arrest. He is currently being held in the Pearland City Jail.
