A Harris County deputy shot a car chase suspect Tuesday after the man allegedly showed a weapon. The deputy was trying pull over a man for a routine traffic stop in the 15000 block of the Gulf Freeway when the suspect gave chase.

The suspect eventually got out of his car and showed a weapon. That's when the officer fired a bullet at the suspect, hitting him in the leg.

"There was a pistol recovered. The suspect did drop a weapon as he was running through the breezeway area of the motel back there," said HPD spokesperson Victor Senties.

The suspect was taken to the hospital and is listed as stable. The deputies were not hurt.
