HISD opens new health clinic for employees

HOUSTON On Tuesday, Superintendent Terry Grier cut the ribbon on a new health and wellness center located next to their headquarters.

The center, open to HISD employees and their families, is part of a new deal with Concentra to provide primary and urgent care along with health and wellness services.

Grier says it's a cheaper alternative for employees, some of whom have been using emergency rooms for non-emergency health care.

"So if we can have this open as an alternative clinic where it's staffed on the weekends and afternoons then we think it's a better option for us," said Dr. Terry Grier, HISD Superintendent.

The district plans to open two to three more clinics by the end of the year.
