A shelter in place has been lifted for several schools in the Splendora area after authorities apprehended one of two suspects. A male suspect and a female suspect reportedly got away from police after being taken into custody early Monday morning on drug charges. The two were pulled over after police smelled marijuana in their vehicle.

The lockdown was lifted Monday afternoon. Splendora ISD told us the schools were put on lockdown as a precaution. The schools included Splendora High School, Splendora Junior High School and Piney Woods Elementary School.

HPD, DPS and DEA helicopters were used in the search. Authorites told us they caught the male suspect just after noon. Law enforcement officials told the school district that they never caught the female suspect, and that they don't believe the woman is in the area any more.
