Houston man sentenced for trying to help Taliban

HOUSTON A judge sentenced Adan Mirza to 15 years in prison without parole for conspiracy and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. He and Kobie Williams were arrested in November of 2006 after an undercover FBI investigation.

The men gave money, thinking it was going to supporters of Taliban fighters. They also trained at various shooting ranges in the Houston area in hopes of traveling to the Middle East to fight against coalition forces.

Williams plead guilty last year and was sentenced to 54 months.
