Houston police have arrested a man in connection with the stabbing of a couple at their home early Tuesday morning. Police were called by the hospital reporting two people had been stabbed. Police responded to the couple's home on Apache Street near Irvington in northeast Houston. After speaking with some witnesses, police sent out an alert for a possible suspect.

An officer spotted the suspect's truck a few minutes later and a short chase began. The suspect was eventually taken into custody.

Police say the man was heard saying he did not want to return to prison.

"He had made comments to that affect and that he was not going to kill himself, that he was not going back to prison," said Lt. John McGalin of HPD Homicide.

Police have not released information about the suspect or the argument that led up to the stabbing.

Both victims are expected to recover.
