Police: Man shoots two women, commits suicide

WEBSTER, TX Investigators say the man attacked the women, and then turned the gun on himself.

The two women were transported via Life Flight in critical condition. Police say the man who shot them is dead, and now investigators are trying to piece together Saturday's events.

Criss-crossing crime scene tape and a car dotted with bullet holes are the last thing residents expected at Hidden Lakes Apartments off Henderson and Egret Bay.

"It's crazy. I never thought anything would happen like this out here," neighbor Pierre Mason said.

Webster police say the multiple shooting stemmed from a recent breakup between the shooter and his girlfriend.

"Apparently there was an ongoing boyfriend/ex-girlfriend problem," Webster Police Chief Ray Smiley said. "The ex-girlfriend, however, was not involved in this. We believe this was her sister."

Investigators believe the sister came to the complex to confront the suspect, and that's when he opened fired on her and another woman.

"We have no idea who the second female is," Smiley said. "It was not the ex-girlfriend."

Neighbors called police right away, and officers followed the man to a nearby strip center, where he shot himself in the head and died. Neighbors watching investigators piece together the clues are still in shock.

"There's people who come to party at the pool or the Jacuzzi. They're nice to everyone, so it's really disconcerting, to say the least," said a neighbor, who identified herself only as Susan.

And Webster police admit this is a rarity for them as well.

"We average maybe one murder every two years," Smiley said.

Wiley said investigators are still trying to figure out what happened. They said they were called out there last Thursday to respond to a domestic dispute, but the girlfriend didn't want to file charges.
