The city of Houston today dedicated its first ever victory garden. Mayor Annise Parker helped put in some new plants in the garden which sits at Tranquility Park near City Hall.

The Houston Food Bank and volunteer gardeners will get the food grown in the garden.

During World War II, First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt oversaw the creation of the first victory garden at the White House.
