Gov. Perry in town to pick up endorsement

HOUSTON He was here to pick up an endorsement from the Harris County Deputies' Organization. It is his fourth visit to Houston in five weeks.

If it seems like a lot, it is. Remember, he is running against Houston's former mayor and it's tough to win in Texas if you lose in Houston.

"Houston is a very important city. Harris County is extremely important," said Perry. "You add the ring counties around us, you're up to a third of the population of the state of Texas."

Both Governor Perry and former Mayor Bill White were in town Monday to speak at an Arab-American forum, but an hour apart.
